Setting Up Your Wallet
Install MetaMask, secure your seed phrase, and add the Base network.
MetaMask is the most popular browser wallet for interacting with Ethereum and its Layer 2 chains like Base. Setting it up takes just a few minutes, but securing it properly is critical for protecting your funds.
Installing MetaMask
- Visit metamask.io and download the official browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge. You can also install the MetaMask mobile app on iOS or Android.
- Click "Create a New Wallet" and set a strong password. This password locks MetaMask on your device but is not your recovery method.
- MetaMask will display your 12-word seed phrase (also called a recovery phrase). Write it down on paper and store it in a safe place. This phrase is the only way to recover your wallet if you lose access to your device.
- Confirm your seed phrase by selecting the words in the correct order. Once confirmed, your wallet is ready to use.
Your seed phrase is the master key to all your funds. Never store it in a screenshot, notes app, email, or cloud storage. Never enter it on any website. Write it on paper and keep it in a secure physical location. Consider using a metal backup for fire and water resistance. If anyone asks for your seed phrase, it is a scam, no exceptions.
Adding the Base Network
To interact with DeadBox, you need Base network in MetaMask. The easiest way is to visit chainlist.org, search for "Base", and click "Add to MetaMask". Alternatively, you can add it manually: go to MetaMask Settings, then Networks, then Add Network, and enter: Network Name: Base, RPC URL: https://mainnet.base.org, Chain ID: 8453, Currency Symbol: ETH, Block Explorer: https://basescan.org. Once added, switch to the Base network from the network dropdown in MetaMask.
