How USDeAD works in 60 seconds

3 steps

The fastest tour through the protocol. Three steps, no jargon — drop into the difficulty levels below for depth.

Step 1

Deposit collateral

WETH · wstETH · rETH

Lock ETH or an ETH-equivalent liquid staking token into a vault on a lending chain. Recommended C-Ratio: 200%.

Step 2

Mint USDeAD

0% interest · 115% liquidation

Borrow USDeAD against your collateral with zero ongoing interest. Stay above the 115% threshold to keep your vault safe.

Step 3

Repay + 1% fee

fee shared with uDEAD holders

Close the vault by repaying USDeAD. The one-time 1% exit fee is split 50/50 between uDEAD holders and the DEADBOX treasury.

A per-vault risk-band histogram (At Risk · Warning · Moderate · Healthy) is coming once the indexer aggregates vault state across chains. Until then this gives you the protocol-wide health each chain reports.

Time-series chart is on the way

The deadbox-api indexer is snapshotting protocol state across all lending chains. As history accumulates (roughly one snapshot every 5 minutes), this area will switch to a live area-chart of collateral and supply over the last 30 days, similar to the protocol growth chart on us.dead.box.

New to Stablecoins?

What is a Stablecoin?

Think of a stablecoin like a digital dollar that lives on the blockchain. While most crypto prices jump up and down every day, a stablecoin is designed to always be worth about $1.

People use stablecoins to store value without worrying about wild price swings. You can send them to anyone in the world, instantly, without a bank in the middle.

Stablecoins keep their $1 value by holding real-world assets or crypto as backing — kind of like how a bank is supposed to hold enough money to cover all its deposits.

What Makes USDeAD Different?

Most stablecoins generate fees and keep every penny for the company behind them. USDeAD flips that model — it shares its revenue with the community.

What "Beta" means here

Beta · Live

Real funds, real on-chain code, real beta. Read what's locked, what isn't, and where the trust assumptions still sit.

What's already locked
  • DRP main contract — owner renounced to 0x0
  • StabilityPool & USDeAD OFT owner = renounced DRP
  • TreasurySplitter admin role renounced at deploy
  • Collateral whitelist immutable in source
Still admin-controlled
  • paramSetterAdmin: Gnosis Safe multisig · 48h timelock on parameter changes
  • OracleManager owner: live EOA (key custody disclosed at full launch)
  • VaultDistributor: multisig wallet, not auto-distribution

Practical guidance for the beta phase

  • Treat USDeAD like any audited-but-young stablecoin: don't park more than you'd be willing to test with.
  • Vault parameters can change with 48 hours of advance on-chain notice through the paramSetterAdmin Safe. Watch the schedule events on BaseScan if you care.
  • The liquidation threshold is hardcoded at 115% — that's the contract value, not a doc value. Verify any time via LIQUIDATION_THRESHOLD() on BaseScan.
  • Vault operations are only live on Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Scroll, and MegaETH. Everything else is bridge-only.

Frequently Asked Questions

USDeAD is live in public beta. Vault operations (open / borrow / repay / liquidate) run on six EVM chains: Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Scroll, and MegaETH — the latter being a key early-phase chain alongside Base. The USDeAD token itself additionally bridges via LayerZero to BNB Chain, Monad, HyperEVM, Solana, and Tron, where you can hold and transfer it but cannot open vaults. Seed liquidity is currently being built on the Curve USDeAD/USDC pool on Base. Treat the system as beta software — parameters and integrations may still evolve before the full launch.
At launch, USDeAD vaults will accept three types of collateral: WETH (Wrapped Ether), wstETH (Lido wrapped staked ETH), and rETH (Rocket Pool ETH). Additional collateral types may be added in the future based on community governance.
No. USDeAD vaults charge 0% APR on borrowed USDeAD. The only cost is a one-time 1% exit fee when you close your position and withdraw collateral. This makes USDeAD one of the cheapest stablecoins to mint and hold.
The Watchdog system is a community-driven liquidation monitoring mechanism, supplemented by team-operated bots. Anyone can monitor vault collateral ratios on-chain and trigger liquidations on vaults that fall below the 115% collateral ratio. In return, watchdogs receive roughly 2% of the liquidation surplus.
Fees collected from vault exit fees and liquidation surpluses are sent to the uDEAD dividend distribution contract. The contract automatically allocates rewards proportionally based on each holder's share of the total uDEAD supply.
